OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox TV Stations
FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
In a major metropolitan area, getting the news and navigating the morning commute are the two things viewers rely on most. We are seeking a dynamic, authoritative, and engaging Traffic/News Anchor to guide our audience through the morning rush.
Based at FOX 5 Atlanta, this is a high-profile hybrid role. You will toggle seamlessly between anchoring hard news, conducting live interviews, and breaking down complex traffic gridlocks across broadcast, streaming, and social platforms. If you have a commanding on-air presence, deep local knowledge, and the ability to ad-lib flawlessly during breaking news or traffic snarls, we want you on our desk.
The Role: What You'll Do
You will be a key personality for our morning viewing community, ensuring our audience starts their day informed, connected, and on time.
  • Morning Newscast Anchoring: Anchor morning newscasts, delivering everything from hard news to live and pre-produced guest segments and interviews.
  • Traffic Authority: Own the traffic beat. Track major Atlanta transportation routes and commuting bottlenecks daily. Cultivate local traffic contacts, maintain a strong relationship with our vendor traffic producer, and maximize the capabilities of our vendor graphics systems.
  • Streaming Innovation: Host interactive, long-form content for our live stream using a relaxed, conversational, ad-lib presentation style. Collaborate with User Experience Producers to bake audience feedback directly into the stream.
  • Editorial Leadership: Actively participate in morning editorial meetings, field anchoring initiatives, and collaborate with newsroom managers and producers to maintain top-tier journalistic standards.
  • Digital & Community Face: Publish real-time traffic alerts and stories across Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter), and represent the station at civic functions, sponsored events, and community outreach activities.

What You Bring to the Table
We are looking for an exceptional communicator who commands the screen and naturally connects with a major market audience.
  • On-Camera Performance: Stellar on-air delivery, excellent script-reading skills, and a proven ability to sustain unscripted ad-lib coverage for extended periods during breaking situations.
  • Geographic Expertise: Deep structural knowledge of major Atlanta transportation routes, highways, and recurring traffic pain points.
  • Writing Excellence: Exceptional writing skills with an absolute command of conversational broadcast style, English grammar, spelling, and punctuation under intense deadline pressure.
  • Newsroom Leadership: A collaborative, proactive leader on the floor who can guide a team and interface politely and effectively with the public.

Education & Experience
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a reporter or anchor at a commercial television station is required. Previous in-studio anchoring experience is a significant plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Station Requirements
  • This is a fully on-site, station-based position to allow for real-time collaboration with production, news, and digital teams during fast-moving morning blocks.
  • High operational agility to support evolving newsroom priorities as business needs dictate.

Why Join Our Team?
This is your opportunity to step onto a massive stage in a Top 10 market. We provide the advanced traffic graphics, the streaming infrastructure, and the reach-you provide the personality and expertise that Atlanta residents trust to start their day.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $100,000.00-126,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
