Nebraska Broadcasters Association

Miamisburg, OH • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

Dayton 24/7 Now is looking for an ambitious, creative, and digitally driven Sports Multimedia Journalist to lead our sports coverage in one of Ohio's most passionate sports markets.

This is not a position for someone who simply covers scores and postgame press conferences. We're looking for a storyteller who uncovers compelling stories that matter to viewers-whether it's inside the University of Dayton athletic department, Wright State University, the Dayton Dragons organization, Friday night high school football, or the countless athletes and coaches making an impact throughout the Miami Valley.

If you're passionate about telling stories across every platform, embrace social media as a reporting tool-not just a place to post links-and thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and shape the station's sports coverage across television, digital, streaming, and social media.
  • Enterprise original sports stories that go beyond highlights and scores.
  • Develop strong relationships with athletes, coaches, schools, and community leaders throughout the Miami Valley.
  • Shoot, write, edit, and present compelling sports stories for daily newscasts and special coverage.
  • Create engaging digital content, including articles, videos, reels, and social-first storytelling.
  • Cover live sporting events, breaking sports news, feature stories, and major community events.
  • Produce content for our website and all social media platforms with an audience-first mindset.
  • Work closely with news managers and producers to identify unique story opportunities and plan long-term sports coverage.
  • Represent the station professionally at community and sporting events.
Qualifications
  • 1+ years of multimedia journalism or sports reporting experience preferred. Exceptional recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong writing, shooting, and non-linear editing skills.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting daily deadlines.
  • Outstanding news judgment and storytelling abilities.
  • Strong on-camera presence and communication skills.
  • Leadership qualities with the initiative to own and grow the station's sports brand.
  • Positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and willingness to mentor and work alongside newsroom teammates.
  • A passion for finding stories others overlook.
Preferred Skills

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Adobe Express
  • SAGA
  • Mimir
  • Live reporting and live shot experience
  • Digital publishing and content management systems
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • A self-starter who brings story ideas every day.
  • Aggressive in pursuing exclusive and enterprise sports stories.
  • Comfortable creating content for television, web, mobile, and social platforms.
  • Passionate about engaging audiences wherever they consume news.
  • Curious, creative, and always looking for the next great story.
  • A team player who leads by example and elevates those around them.
