Job description

Elevate Sporting goods in Tacoma is a local family owned and operated New and Used sporting goods store. We focus a lot on our hockey and skating community but also buy, sell and trade all different types of sporting goods. As a smaller family owned sporting goods retailer we are focused on giving exceptional customer service to all customers and potential customers. We pride ourselves in creating a great local shopping atmosphere in store and highly value building long term professional relationships in all facets of our business.


The Lead position is to learn our culture and develop into a full time Assistant Manager. The Lead would assists in the leading of store operations including building a successful team, developing customer loyalty, driving for results, and achieving goals set for the store. As needed to achieve success, a Lead is responsible for motivating sales , overseeing some day-to-day operations and maintaining up to date promotional material. Lead would assist in the training of new staff. This position helps supervises others in shop while holding others accountable for certain processes and operations during their shift. The Lead can potentially be involved in training in other areas/locations within the company. Leads will always act in accordance with Elevate Sporting’s policies, practices, and core values. The ideal candidate must have a strong focus on customer satisfaction and meeting monthly sales goals, be an excellent communicator and demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES would include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction by being knowledgeable on all products offered, and teaming up with co-workers to provide an excellent sales & service experience
  • Assist in motivating the sales team to meet sales objectives and loss prevention goals by training and mentoring staff
  • Assist in hiring, training, and overseeing new store staff
  • Assist in coaching and counseling associates, monitoring and reviewing sales results
  • Assist in leading associates to drive a selling culture that maximizes store profitability
  • Fitting customers with equipment and proper sporting goods
  • Resolve customer concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure that visual and operational elements are consistent with company standards
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices
  • Builds professional relationships with every customer and potential customer by asking open-ended questions that will help assess their needs
  • Ability to learn, maintain and share expertise of products, industry and trends.
  • Contributes to a positive, productive and passionate work environment every shift
  • Needs to be able to work evenings and weekends.


  • QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • High school diploma required
    • One or more years of experience working in a retail sales environment, ideally in a leadership role


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, Customer facing environment
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to follow instructions presented in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English; ability to speak and/or write in other languages a plus
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about sports and sporting goods.
  • Able to unconditionally deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
