Our Analytics Data Engineering team builds intelligent data systems that power insights across the services.We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our Live Sports and Media Analytics team — dedicated for building highly scalable, near real-time systems that process live sports data, video, and audio streams. Description

As an engineering leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Sports, Media analytics strategy and empowering a group of highly skilled engineers to innovate in this space. You will work closely with peer engineering teams, data scientists, and stakeholders to deeply understand their data needs and deliver innovative, high-impact solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive technical strategy and roadmap for Live Sports and Media analytics
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements
  • Architect and deliver highly scalable near real-time analytics systems
  • Partner with peers, quality engineering, SRE to deliver and operate high quality data solutions
  • Constantly measure and improve data quality, system reliability, performance and efficiency
  • Mentoring and developing engineering talent and their growth
  • Represent team vision and roadmap to senior leadership and lead through ambiguity
  • Foster innovation first inclusive engineering culture with strong accountability
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years of leading engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles and best practices
  • Hands-on experience in architecting and delivering large-scale data engineering applications
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, especially in cross-functional settings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
  • Experience in leading teams through large, open-ended projects with ambiguous requirements
  • Experience in delivering AIML and GenAI engineering projects at scale
  • Experience in building scalable stream analytics systems with one or more of Flink, Spark, Kafka, Iceberg, StarRocks
  • Experience in computer vision, video and audio stream processing with Open CV, VLM, Object Detection and Speech to Text

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $195,700 and $338,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
