Job description

Carbon Steel Pipe Spool Fitter (Fabrication Shop)

Step onto the shop floor in Northwest Houston at 6:00 PM and start bringing engineered systems to life. Your evening begins at the layout table—blueprints and spool drawings open—confirming dimensions and calculating take-offs. You select carbon steel components, align flanges, elbows, and reducers, then mark, measure, and cut with precision down to 1/16". After prepping edges, you tack assemblies using MIG and flux core, verify tight fit-ups, and signal the overhead crane to position heavier pieces. Throughout the shift, you operate grinders and fitting tools safely, document quality checks, and uphold rigorous safety standards.

What you’ll do
  • Fit, align, and assemble carbon steel pipe spools to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials; perform accurate layout calculations.
  • Execute tack welding using MIG and flux core processes to secure fit-ups.
  • Inspect joints and fitments prior to final weld; maintain quality documentation.
  • Operate shop tools and lifting equipment, including overhead cranes, safely and efficiently.
What you’ll bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of pipe fitting experience in a fabrication shop (required).
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret spool drawings with strong layout math.
  • Proficiency using a tape measure to 1/16" and common fitting/grinding tools.
  • Experience with overhead cranes is a plus.
Schedule & pay
  • Location: Northwest Houston, TX
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 PM – 5:30 AM (Saturday overtime may be required with notice provided on Thursdays)
  • Pay: Starting at $23.00-$30.00/hour plus shift differential, DOE and test results
  • Duration: Temp-to-Hire
