What is the difference between Sponsor Program vs Visa Specialist?
| Aspect | Sponsor Program | Visa Specialist |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Typically industry-specific knowledge, compliance training | Legal or immigration certifications, visas expertise |
| Work Environment | Program management, employer coordination | Legal consulting, immigration offices |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used by companies to facilitate sponsorships | Used by legal firms, immigration agencies |
| Search & Comparison Intent | Understanding sponsorship processes | Legal visa procedures and compliance |
The Sponsor Program focuses on managing and facilitating sponsorship initiatives within organizations, often involving compliance and employer coordination. In contrast, a Visa Specialist provides legal expertise on visa processes, ensuring compliance with immigration laws. While both roles involve immigration-related activities, the Sponsor Program is more programmatic and organizational, whereas the Visa Specialist is legal and consultative.

OSRP facilitates the development, submission, negotiation, and management of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements; ensures compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations; and supports faculty and staff in securing external funding that advances the research, service, and academic mission of the university.
