Description

General Laborer is responsible for operating machinery and material handling equipment to process inventory in preparation for customer orders. Performing housekeeping, organization, minor maintenance, and reporting activities as directed are an essential part of the job.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate machinery (startup, operate, shutdown, cleanup) in a safe manner: Manual splitter, cutting saw, wrapper, tumbler, and cuber.
  • Operate forklift safely: Organize materials, move inventory, recycling, housekeeping
  • Process inventory (stacking, wrapping, strapping, labeling, recycling): Stock preparation, "make"/ special orders, product testing, marketing samples, customer loading
  • Maintain work areas: Keep storage locations, inventory, loading areas, material transfer areas, product return areas clean and organized; maintain inventory/material control
  • Perform minor maintenance activities: Inspection, operator maintenance and cleaning on forklifts, machinery and support equipment, transfer equipment, compressors, hoppers, mixers, material handling systems, personnel facilities 
  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting and recordkeeping: Inventory data sheets, customer orders, non-conformance reports, inspection logs, production reporting
  • Be an effective team member: Wear PPE consistently, work safely and ensure co-workers do as well, follow all policies and procedures, set an example of good behavior, assist co-workers as needed, work as a team to achieve the production schedule, cooperate with changes in the work hours, days, shifts.
  • Other Duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Able to communicate (written and verbal) in English (full proficiency is a plus)
  • Valid NC Driver License, clean driving record, and have reliable transportation to work
  • Able to lift / carry (up to 80 lbs.), and physically fit to perform tasks on and around equipment
  • Work independently and diligently with minimal directions to complete tasks on schedule
  • Communicate well with team members and supervisor
  • Apply training and experience to solve problems and contribute to the success of the team

Employees must possess the ability to perform the essential job functions successfully and safely within the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Employees must maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. Employees are required to have visual acuity to maintain safety awareness. Prolonged periods of sitting & standing, are an essential part of this position. 

Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at a time.
