Position Summary
The Departmentof Speech & Hearing Sciences at the University of New Mexico invitesapplications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to begin in August 2026.This is a part-time (.5 FTE) position with specialization in developmentaldisabilities and clinical supervision. The department serves a diverse andmedically complex population across New Mexico and supports both clinicalexcellence and impactful research addressing hearing loss across the lifespan.
This positionis designed to expand research and clinical support which are currently limitedby staffing capacity.
ThePostdoctoral Fellow will engage in mentored and independent research,contribute to clinical services, and participate in teaching andscholarly activities consistent with departmental needs and licensure status.The successful candidate will develop a focused line of research related to developmentaldisabilities, while collaborating with faculty investigators and clinicalpartners.
KeyResponsibilities:
  • Develop and conduct independent and collaborative research in communication sciences and disorders, with emphasis on developmental disabilities
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations for publication and professional conferences
  • Participate in grant development and scholarly activities as appropriate
  • Support the development and delivery of clinical speech and language services, consistent with licensure eligibility
  • Assist with IRB submissions, regulatory documentation, and research compliance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, clinicians, and trainees
  • Participate in departmental research meetings, seminars, and educational activities
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring activities as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • PHD in discipline by the start date of appointment
  • Eligibility for Speech-Language Pathology clinical licensure in the state of New Mexico

PreferredQualifications:
  • Strong record of research in Communication Sciences and Disorders as evidenced in cover letter and CV.
  • Strong record of publications in the area of Communication Sciences and Disorders as evidenced by publications.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.as evidenced by cover letter.
