Job Description

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a Registered Nurse - Pediatric Infusion at Naval Medical Center San Diego in California.  This position offers:

  • Full time, Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0600 and 2000 hours.
  • Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5 to 9 hour period, to include an uncompensated 30-to-60-minute lunch break, respectively.
  • In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per two-week period.
  • No Federal Holidays or Weekends
  • Opportunity to care for our Military men and women
  • Salary to be determined but upwards of $85 per hour.

The RN Mental Health position requires:

  • Possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Diploma from a Nursing Program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

  • As an alternative to the education requirements in the basic contract, the HCW may be a graduate of a state accredited Pediatric Specific Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Provider Program such as the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses course, and current Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse Certification and two years demonstrated clinical experience in pediatric hematology/oncology nursing, vascular access and central line care and maintenance. 
  • Possess and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and APHON Chemo certification Recertification may be obtained through NMCSD
  • Maintains certification and competencies for the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy agents to pediatric patients. Demonstrates proficiency in the administration and disposal of these agents.
  • Proficient in venipuncture and maintaining intravascular access. Possesses thorough knowledge, proficiency and technical ability in the use of parenteral equipment and intravenous therapy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of common intravenous drugs and chemotherapy/biotherapy agents including indications, pharmacologic properties, contraindications, dosing, anticipated side effects, potential complications and antidote therapy, incompatibilities, treatment modalities such as site selection and psychologic implications.
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted license to practice as a clinic nurse in any state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands.
