Job Overview:
Pay Range: $17.20hr - $17.87hr
Requirement/Must Have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
- Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work in a biohazard environment while following safety protocols.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call schedules as required.
Experience:
- No prior experience required.
- Preferred experience in laboratory specimen processing or clinical laboratory environments.
- Preferred medical background with knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous hospital laboratory experience is a plus.
- Previous experience in a production or high-volume work environment preferred.
- Experience handling data entry and quality-focused tasks preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department.
- Handle specimen processing activities including presort, centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging, and microfilming.
- Perform pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.
- Accurately enter and process specimen-related data promptly.
- Learn and understand the specimen types associated with ordered laboratory tests.
- Follow compliance regulations related to laboratory test ordering and specimen handling.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards within departmental timelines.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of laboratory and support staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Follow safety, compliance, and operational procedures consistently.
- Adapt to changing workflows, customer demands, and operational priorities.
- Support customer satisfaction through accurate and timely specimen processing activities.
