SUMMARY:
The Outside Specifying Engineer drives growth within the Plan and Spec market by building strong relationships with consulting engineers, architects, contractors, and building owners. This role promotes Carrier Enterprise products and solutions through technical expertise, strategic consultation, and proactive engagement with the design community. By identifying project opportunities, influencing equipment specifications, and supporting customers with accurate product selections and technical guidance, this position contributes to increased market share, customer satisfaction, and long-term sales success.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts within the building design community through Consulting Engineers, building owners and committees to ensure and a full pipeline of opportunities that assures sales goal attainment.
  • Utilize current and create new, innovative design tools to effectively plan and increase HVAC design opportunities within the Plan and Spec Market.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with our products and services.
  • Develop and propose changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services which would result in cost reduction or improvement in Operations.
  • Monitor sales trends and product performance results.
  • Promote Carrier Enterprise products, services, and solutions through customer calls, presentations, and factory visits.
  • Provide clients with equipment recommendations, selections, specifications, and any other detailed information required
  • Collecting, organizing and assembling data for reports, presentations, and/or special projects

Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering or a similar technical discipline
  • 3 or more years of direct industry experience and strong references required
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred but not required

Qualifications:
  • A strong sales presence.
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Superior written, oral and presentation skills.
