Project Overview:

The project is a 1.3 GW simple-cycle power generation facility located in Millersport, Ohio, being constructed adjacent to a hyperscale data center campus. The facility includes multiple power generation technologies consisting of Solar Titan 130 gas turbines, Siemens SGT800 gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and associated balance of plant infrastructure. The scope includes major civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, underground utility, control systems, and commissioning works required to support phased energization and turnover of the facility. Construction will be executed through a combination of direct hire and subcontracted labor supported by modularization, pre-assembly, offsite warehousing, and advanced work packaging methodologies.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will supervise project expediting activities and lead and train a team to ensure timely delivery of supplier material and equipment to support the project schedule. You will review staffing, workloads, budgets, production schedules, and progress reports and forecast future staffing needs. Your recommendations will optimize operations and resource allocation, so project requirements are met. Understands the importance of managing internally and externally to ensure everything is on schedule prior to needing to be "expedited". #LI-VB1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Supervises expediting activities on a large project of complex scope
  • Directs the activities of the project expeditors in ensuring delivery of supplier material, equipment, and technical data to support the project schedule
  • Distributes workload to assigned project expeditors according to the experience and ability of the expeditor, the degree of complexity of the work and the urgency of the need for action
  • Monitors suppliers’ performance and provides advice or direction to ensure compliance with policy, procedure, or guidelines
  • Reviews project expediting staffing and workloads and, where coverage is inadequate or excessive, initiates corrective action
  • Forecasts project staffing requirements and coordinates personnel assignments to meet these needs
  • Reviews material status reports, critical items reports, updates Bechtel’s Digital Supply Chain System (DSCS) and Supplier Performance Database (SPD) data to ensure that adequate accurate information is assembled and presented to the assigned project
  • Represents Expediting in project team meetings
  • Identifies and solves problems by direct contact with suppliers
  • Coordinates the accumulation of data from project expediters and issues reports for the expediting group
Major Responsibilities(Contd.):
  • Manages supplier relationships, with a focus on partnering with them for a mutually successful outcome.
  • Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data, and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress, and shipment
  • Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if suppliers’ programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements
  • Coordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators, or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates and instructs suppliers accordingly
  • Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers
  • Coordinates with individuals across many departments such as Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Supplier Quality, Project Controls, Logistics and Document Management Control to ensure the purchase order and subcontract is progressing to support job site requirements
  • Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required delivery dates
  • Coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Thorough understanding of equipment and material fabrication steps and methods.
  • Proficiency in monitoring supplier performance, back-charge procedures and the resolution of claims and disputes.
  • Thorough understanding of Logistics and Supplier Quality processes.
  • Proficient in interpreting schedules to ensure that realistic milestones are established, that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication skills regarding technical and production matters with both project and supplier personnel.
  • Knows how to deal professionally with suppliers and project personnel.
  • Capable of providing early warning to the Project Management of supplier deficiencies or schedule slippage.
  • Familiar with how to develop expediting budgets.
  • Familiar with developing and tracking metrics.
