In this position, you will work hand-in-hand with a diverse range of educated professionals with backgrounds in hydrology and geology; soil and environmental science; civil, chemical, and environmental engineering; geographic information system (GIS) and computer drafting; and field and laboratory technology. As a subsidiary of Geo-Logic Associates, DBS&A has access to 350 diverse professionals and 30 offices in the U.S. and Peru. Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated GIS Technician / Analyst to join our team and support a range of environmental, engineering, and geospatial projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in GIS, cartography, spatial analysis, and field data integration, with the ability to produce high-quality mapping products and support multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update GIS databases (geodatabases), spatial datasets, and associated metadata
  • Perform spatial and non-spatial data analysis to support environmental and engineering projects
  • Produce high-quality 2D and 3D maps, figures, and visualizations for technical reports, presentations, and field use
  • Support field data collection efforts, including configuration and use of ArcGIS Field Maps or similar tools
  • Integrate field-collected data, GPS data, and imagery into GIS systems
  • Create cartographic figures and conceptual graphics, including cross sections, schematics, and models
  • Manage and support ArcGIS Online platforms, including web maps, dashboards, user permissions, and data workflows
  • Conduct aerial imagery interpretation and digitization of features from multiple data sources
  • Assist with environmental compliance, water resources, and infrastructure planning projects
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and field personnel to support project deliverables

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or Geography, or a minor in GIS with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or related field 
  • 4+ years of professional GIS experience (mid-level candidates preferred; strong junior candidates will be considered)
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro 
  • Experience with: 
    • Geodatabase design and management
    • Spatial data analysis and visualization
  • Strong skills in cartography and map design
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with environmental, mining, water resources, or infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with: 
    • ArcGIS Online and Field Maps
    • GPS and field data collection workflows
    • Remote sensing and aerial photo interpretation
  • Experience creating: 
    • Cross sections and subsurface conceptual models
    • 3D visualizations
  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator or similar graphics tools
  • Knowledge of: 
    • Hydrology, geology, or environmental monitoring workflows
    • Regulatory or compliance-related mapping (e.g., groundwater, reclamation, permitting)
