Job description

Advisor, Software Engineer

Acts as a key leader in the development and execution of software quality methods and processes. Responsible for test design, test automation development, methods, and procedures to ensure software implementation meet specifications prior to launching. Perform continuous improvement to software quality assurance standards. Ensure initial implementation meet specification and future release maintain specification thru testing automation.

Design, develop, customize, and maintain IBM Sterling WMS components including user exits, custom APIs, agents/time-triggered transactions, services, and UI extensions.

Develop and maintain application code in Java (Core Java, J2EE, Spring, XML/XSL, web services) supporting high-volume distribution operations.

Develop, tune, and maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL objects including packages, procedures, triggers, and complex queries; perform query optimization and data lifecycle design.

Participate in on-call rotation supporting 24/7/365 distribution operations, including peak season and facility launch support.


1. Develop standards and procedures to determine product quality and implementation readiness.
2. Design, Develop and maintain automated tests to validate product meet specifications and identify issues.
3. Ensure that a program continues to function and meet specification thru software maintenance, new functional releases.
4. Create and Document test cases.
5. Perform and document risk analysis.
6. Record test progress and results.
7. Drive innovation and streamline overall testing processes.
8. Identify, isolate, and track bugs throughout testing.
9. Perform manual and automated testing.
10. Research and analyze product features being prepared for release and implementation.
11. Research new tools, technologies, and testing processes.
12. Review user interfaces for consistency and functionality.
13. Coach, mentor, and support other software quality engineers. Communicate effectively, manage conflict amongst team members, and remove impediments.
14. Validate software environment and quality consistency

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Customer service driven.
