Mercy Community Healthcare has an opening for a Billing Specialist in Franklin, TN. We are looking for enthusiastic people with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those we serve in our community.  The Billing Specialist is the designated point of contact for patients regarding billing questions and concerns. The Billing Specialist works on and tracks AR, and claims follow up with third party payors to ensure all transactions are managed properly. This position frequently speaks with payers over the phone to resolve any claims or accounts.

We provide care to the uninsured, underinsured and insured through pediatric and adult primary care, mental and behavioral health services, and care coordination.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Working AR and claims follow up. 

Work and resolve claims before timely filing. 

Speaking with payers and making outbound insurance calls.

Reviewing and working denials and hold errors. 

Appeal claims and reconsideration forms when necessary to payers. 

Review and monitor assigned accounts and payer reports.

Provide follow up with payers.

Work Patient Refund reports.

Assist with patient billing questions.

Other duties assigned by supervisor as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience working with insurance claims (5 years of experience preferred).

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
