Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNER, PCB/PCBA (STARLINK)
The Starlink Supply Chain team supports an elite group of engineers and supply chain professionals that establish and maintain the signals that enable the design, production, and launch of the Starlink satellite constellation. Our team moves with efficiency. We are seeking a supply chain planner focused on printed circuit boards (PCB), printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), and related electronic hardware who is eager to work on fast-paced projects with immediate impact that are vital to SpaceX. SpaceX has the unique ability to influence the supply base toward improvements as we challenge the supply chain on cost, quality, and speed of execution. This role helps enable rate production in the satellite factory of the future by owning a clear, accurate demand and supply plan for board-level hardware-from prototype and NPI through ramp and mass production.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain accuracy and audit bill of materials (BOM) in material requirements planning (MRP) systems for PCB, PCBA, and electronic subassemblies in preparation for satellite and subassembly rate production
  • Pull and aggregate the overall demand picture for PCB/PCBA and related electronic hardware to produce an accurate demand signal that supports rate production
  • Establish and manage inventory level targets, review line of balances, align demand-supply signals and allocations, maintain product master data, and develop expertise in SpaceX software, systems, and reporting tools
  • Identify and mitigate risk to ensure continuity of supply by constructing and executing a supply plan that meets quality standards and production deadlines-including long-lead board materials, fab/assembly capacity constraints, and component availability
  • Develop expertise in MRP, triage planning signals, understand the planning matrix, and educate the teams we support on proper use of MRP and its benefit to the business
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, quality, and sourcing organizations to determine change cut-in, reduce obsolescence of board-level material, and eliminate/reduce quality issues
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (including procurement/sourcing) on advanced supply chain strategies for risk mitigation-such as long-term supply coverage, strategic safety stock, and readiness for prototype builds through ramp and mass production
  • Ensure manufacturing and the broader supply chain are prepared to support prototype, pilot, and rate builds with the right material plan, timing, and quantities
  • Proactively manage inventory and prevent stock-outs while optimizing utilization of SpaceX working capital
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to achieve mission success
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, government regulations, and laws
  • Proactively update SpaceX leadership and engineering teams on critical PCB/PCBA supply issues, shortages, and recovery plans
  • Analyze supply chain data and report on MRP health metrics and their relation to business goals; implement analytical tools and dashboards to improve visibility of board-level supply performance

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of experience working in one or more of the following, or 3+ years of experience working in one or more of the following in lieu of a degree:
  • Engineering
  • Purchasing
  • Contract negotiation
  • Material or production planning
  • Operations or supply chain management
  • Material cost control
  • Master production scheduling

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Technical knowledge of PCB, PCBA, electronic components, or board-level commodities (fabrication, assembly, or related manufacturing preferred)
  • Experience planning or supporting production for electronic hardware, multitier BOMs, and work orders
  • Proven success working on cross-functional new product introduction (NPI) projects and production ramps
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and purchasing/planning functions
  • SQL experience
  • Power BI experience
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (especially Excel/Project), including pivot tables or macros and data analysis
  • Experience reading datasheets, drawings, and blueprints
  • APICS certification
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet factory and program needs

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to travel; up to 10% of the work week may be required, including international
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • This position is based in Bastrop, TX and requires being onsite; remote work not considered

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
