Space Robotics information

What is space robotics?

A Space Robotics job involves designing, building, and programming robotic systems for use in space exploration and operations. These robots assist with tasks such as satellite servicing, planetary exploration, and habitat construction in space. Engineers in this field work on robotic arms, autonomous rovers, and humanoid robots for space missions. The role requires expertise in robotics, artificial intelligence, control systems, and aerospace engineering.

What does a typical day look like for someone working in space robotics?

A typical day for a professional in Space Robotics often involves designing, testing, and troubleshooting robotic systems intended for use in space missions. You might spend time collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists, analyzing data from simulations or hardware tests, and refining software algorithms for robotic autonomy. Depending on the project cycle, your work could shift between hands-on prototyping, system integration, and writing technical documentation or reports. Regular collaboration with mission planners, systems engineers, and possibly international partners is common, offering a dynamic and intellectually stimulating work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in space robotics, and why are they important?

To thrive in Space Robotics, you need strong expertise in robotics engineering, mechanical and electrical systems, software programming (such as Python, C++), and a degree in engineering or a related STEM field. Familiarity with simulation tools (like ROS or MATLAB), spacecraft systems, and safety certifications such as ITAR compliance or NASA-specific training are often required. Exceptional problem-solving abilities, teamwork, adaptability, and strong communication skills set professionals apart in this field. These qualifications are crucial for developing reliable robotic systems that operate in challenging and high-stakes space environments.

Job description

Description:

MORryde is looking to add to our Sales Team with the addition of Sales Account Managers to help support our metal fabrication division and OEM customer base.

MORryde’s fabrication division is one of the largest on the continent, with over 1,000,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space, and expansion underway, 35+ robotic and manual press brakes, 25+ flat sheet lasers including automation, 20+ robotic weld cells, 15+ CNC mills and lathes, 6 tube lasers, and multiple powder coat lines with automated coating, and we want to continue expanding our capabilities and customer base. We are looking to add a team member who is excited to prospect and grow new accounts.

As an Account Manager, in addition to growing our account base, you will be responsible for the day-to-day details of the sales and service efforts to our OEM customers.

Requirements:
  • Previous manufacturing sales experience strongly preferred but not required
  • Finds fulfillment in actively seeking sales via customer prospecting and cold calling
  • Ability to manage a diverse customer base while excelling in relationship-based selling
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and internal team members, both verbally and written
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Mechanically inclined, hands-on approach to problem solving

At MORryde, you will not be limited to the same product line or offerings; this role will provide you with a lot of variety and no two days or interactions will be the same. Some customers will know exactly what they need, while others will approach you with a challenge and ask you to help find a solution – meaning you’ll work closely with our Engineering Department to help design a solution, work with Production Teams to determine if our manufacturing capabilities can produce what’s needed, and discuss sourcing materials with our Purchasing Team.

Your job doesn’t end at the sale; that’s only the beginning. Building strong relationships means finding solutions to meet customer needs and working across all departments at MORryde to ensure those solutions are fulfilled. As a Sales Account Manager, you are leading that charge.

If you are looking to join a company whose products, quality, and customer service you can proudly stand behind, and where you can be a part of the customers’ solution every step of the way, then MORryde is the place you’ve been looking for.
