The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Manager, Data Science to work at the UHealth campus in Miami, Fl.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Data Science assists the director in managing the development and deployment of technology-based resources to promote systemwide optimization and standardization of clinical practice, service models and patient care throughout all UM patient care settings: acute inpatient, ambulatory, and tertiary care. Responsible for leading process improvement and data science teams; performs complex queries to extract meaningful and actionable data, using the system data analytics tools. Presents data in a clear, easily interpreted manner, to make evidence-based business decisions that are focused on adding value to UHealth.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Conducts initial assessments and data analyses to identify and quantify/qualify recommended opportunities for improvement. Serves as a business change agent leading process re-engineering activities/project.
  • Manages the daily activities of the team responsible for identifying business trends and problems through big data analysis.
  • Oversees the interpretation of results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining.
  • Manages the design and implementation of big data solutions for the organization utilizing big data tools.
  • Applies and integrates statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling and business analysis skills to manage and manipulate complex high-volume data from a variety of sources.
  • Develops infrastructure systems that connect internal data sets.
  • Manages analysis of large quantities of data and presents insights and predictions to support management planning, execution and monitoring of business decisions.
  • Manages team, budget, and project staffing assignments.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on university policy and procedures.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required

  • Organizational Development: Ability to implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness, engagement, and manage change.
  • Financial Oversight: Knowledge of financial operations and management.
  • Team Leadership: Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment, build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
