Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the performance of the following types of maintenance work:  carpentry, plumbing, painting and mechanical

Qualifications
  • Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
  • Assists in building interface or accessory equipment as needed.
  • Responds to requests in the barn area for maintenance assistance in order to provide courteous, timely and expert service.
  • Repairs and installs structural woodwork and equipment; assists in preparing wall surface for painting and wall covering, in order to ensure proper operation of all equipment according to established schedules and department standards.
  • Installs and maintains all flooring in the Racing Office building and dorms.
  • This position operates in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, and vibration.  Proper precautions are taken. 
  • Subject to varying levels of noise, crowds and smoke, the severity of which depends upon barn area volume. 
  • Required to work in elevated places inside and outside of the building and in enclosed areas. 
  • At times subjected to hazards such as the dangers associated with the use of basic hand and power tools, testing equipment, and electrical shock.
  • Mostly works outside and is subject to all weather conditions.  Proper clothing is provided.
  • Change filters monthly on roof top air handler units and ensure plumbing units are operational.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

These skills and abilities necessary are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education and a minimum of two years’ related experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

  • Ability to maintain all Regulatory licenses within assigned state of employment
  • Must successfully pass background check
  • Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of materials and installation techniques related to flooring materials.
  • Knowledge of property layout, including sprinklers risers and water shut offs
  • Ability to use all equipment associated with the position.
  • Able to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work areas.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
  • Equipment and machines used, but not limited to, are basic hand and power tools and testing equipment.
