Team Lead Sorting Department

Location: Cedar Hill, TX 75104
Shift: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $20.00 $24.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Sorting Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Sorting Department, ensuring cabinet components are accurately inspected, labeled, organized, and staged for downstream production processes. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production flow, supporting quality standards, and leading team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, manufacturing experience, and the ability to motivate and develop employees while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate, and support the daily activities of the Sorting Department team.

  • Ensure accurate sorting, labeling, inspection, and staging of cabinet components.

  • Verify part counts, dimensions, finishes, and overall quality before releasing materials to assembly, packaging, or shipping departments.

  • Monitor workflow and production schedules to prevent bottlenecks and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Train and onboard new employees on sorting procedures, quality standards, safety practices, and equipment usage.

  • Conduct daily quality checks to ensure compliance with work orders and production requirements.

  • Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, or quality concerns to Production Supervisors and Quality personnel.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas within the sorting department.

  • Track employee productivity, attendance, and performance.

  • Assist with inventory counts, material movement, and ERP or scanning system updates as required.

  • Enforce company safety policies, PPE requirements, and proper material-handling procedures.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or production environment.

  • Previous cabinet manufacturing or woodworking experience preferred.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a leadership, lead, trainer, or coordinator role.

  • Strong understanding of part identification, labeling, and quality inspection processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and basic drawings.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

  • Exposure to wood dust, moving equipment, and varying warehouse temperatures.

  • Must adhere to all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Compensation & Schedule
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Pay Range: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
