Sorting Operator / Setup Lead

About the Opportunity

A growing manufacturing operation is seeking a Sorting Operator / Setup Lead to oversee final inspection and sorting operations.

This role is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and adjusting Cosmec (HTE) automatic sorting machines, while supporting operators and ensuring finished parts meet customer quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, manufacturing experience, and a solid understanding of inspection and quality processes.


What You’ll Do

  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and adjust Cosmec sorting equipment
  • Lead and support operators within the sorting department
  • Monitor production equipment, quality, and workflow
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools
  • Make machine adjustments to maintain required tolerances
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and quality specifications
  • Complete production, scrap, traceability, and downtime documentation
  • Perform minor tooling adjustments and routine machine maintenance
  • Operate a forklift as needed
  • Use SAP or similar ERP systems for production activities
  • Communicate production and quality issues between shifts
  • Maintain 5S, safety, PPE, and housekeeping standards


What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Manufacturing machine operation or setup experience
  • Experience with Cosmec or automatic sorting equipment preferred
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience with calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Previous leadership or operator training experience preferred
  • SAP or ERP experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Forklift experience
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work weekends when required



Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, climb, and reach throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with machinery, noise, oils, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to wear required PPE
