Description Beef Modernization / FSQA Sorter SupervisorDescriptionAssist the Technical Services Superintendent in achieving Food Safety and Quality Assurance objectives. This role requires expertise in HACCP, GMP, SSOP, third-party audit standards, USDA regulatory requirements and Beef Modernization Examination Procedures. The position leads Beef Modernization Sorter team members, provides Sorter training and oversees team performance, and drives continuous improvement in food safety systems.Primary DutiesSupport development, implementation, and management of HACCP, GMP, SSOPLead, mentor, and develop Food Safety team membersReview daily and weekly plant information including NR's, microbial data, and HACCP/SSOP trend indicatorsImplement corrective actions, special projects, and microbial validation studiesTrain Sorter personnel on bovine anatomy, physiology, pathology, and contaminationGuide Sorter team in determining proper actions for removal and disposal of unwholesome or unfit carcasses, parts, or visceraEnsure Sorter team understands conditions/disease processes requiring USDA Public Health Veterinarian dispositionAudit Sorter personnel regularly to ensure alignment with food safety goals; provide immediate corrective actions as neededCoordinate staffing to fill vacant or absent positions and help minimize turnoverMaintain food and work safety regulationsAudit product and employee safety throughout the shiftConduct line meetings weekly or as needed to address department issues or concernsPerform all other duties as neededExperience RequiredThorough knowledge of SSOP, GMP, and HACCP programsBasic understanding of Food Safety, Food Microbiology, Plant Sanitation, Process Control, and Quality AssuranceStrong understanding of bovine anatomy, physiology, and common pathologiesProficiency in Microsoft OfficeExcellent problem-analysis skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsBachelor?s degree in Animal Science, Food Science, or related field preferredPrevious Quality Assurance or HACCP experience in a food processing plant preferredMinimum 2 years of experience in the packing industry or on the harvest floorKnowledge of USDA online procedures and decision-making processesPrior USDA online inspection experience preferred but not requiredSkills & Abilities RequiredStrong harvest floor knife skillsStrong understanding of harvest operationsEffective communication with Supervisors across Q/A, Production, Safety, and USDA personnelBilingual (English/Spanish) preferredStrong attention to detailDemonstrated leadership abilitiesAbility to build collaborative working relationshipsStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to work in hot temperatures and extended hours, including some weekendsPhysically able to move around the harvest floor, including uneven, slippery surfaces and tight spacesEOE/Vets/Disability
