What are 'soot' jobs?

Soot jobs typically refer to occupations that involve the cleaning, removal, or management of soot deposits, which are fine black particles produced by the incomplete combustion of fuel. These jobs are commonly found in industries like chimney sweeping, fire damage restoration, and industrial cleaning. Workers in these roles are responsible for ensuring that soot does not accumulate to hazardous levels, which can pose health and safety risks. They often use specialized equipment and protective gear to safely remove soot from surfaces, machinery, or air ducts. Proper soot management is essential to maintain air quality, prevent fire hazards, and restore properties after fire incidents.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Soot, and why are they important?

I'm sorry, but 'Soot' is not a recognized real-world professional occupation, so I cannot provide key skills and qualifications for this job title.

What are some common challenges faced by chimney sweeps when working as part of a soot removal team?

Chimney sweeps working in soot removal often encounter challenges such as confined spaces, exposure to dust and soot, and the need for meticulous attention to safety protocols. These professionals frequently work in teams to ensure both efficiency and safety, as tasks like maneuvering heavy equipment and cleaning tall chimneys require coordination. Additionally, chimney sweeps must stay updated on local building codes and best practices to deliver quality service and prevent fire hazards. Effective communication with homeowners and teammates is also vital to ensure thorough and safe completion of each job.

Job description

Field Data Collection Project

Terry Soot Management Group (TSMG) is a field data collection company founded in 2017. We collect data where automation is not possible. We count features, take pictures, make videos, record speech, and scan areas for every detail you need to make more informed decisions. Our field data collection teams are spread across Europe and North America, ready to accept new challenges.

The goal of the project is to help collect images of streets, main points of interest and public areas in the EU countries. The project is performed on cars with 360 cameras mounted on top that image the area around the vehicle and store those images on computers inside the vehicle. Later, this data will be used to enhance one the most popular online maps in the world.

The data collectors will be given specific routes around public streets and areas, specifically targeting commercial districts and historical sites. Due to poor weather conditions some areas will be visited multiple times in order to collect the best quality of imaging. The project is expected to last from 3 to 6 months and will cover different data collection areas.

The ideal candidate enjoys driving, knows well the area, traffic trends, is highly responsible and reliable. The schedule expected on the project is Monday-Friday, 8 hours/day 40 hours per week. Due to weather downtime, work on weekends is possible.

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Driver Licence;
  • Good driving skills and clean driving record;
  • Private monitored parking space for corporate vehicle would be a plus;
  • General car knowledge would be a plus;
  • Enjoys driving, within standard business hours;
  • Available for a minimum of 3 months;
  • Great communication and reporting skills;
  • Tech savvy (drivers will use Gmail, Google Forms, Google Meet and WhatsApp);
  • High level of responsibility;
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
