Sony Pictures Entertainment is currently looking for a unique individual to be a key member of our FP&A team supporting our corporate and central functions. Based in Los Angeles and reporting to the VP of Corporate FP&A, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, analyses, and insights to enhance decision-making. A little bit about our organization:

The Corporate Finance department for Sony Pictures Entertainment keeps our functional leaders apprised of all finance related matters for their group(s), primarily ensuring that strong financial discipline and analyses are in place to help them achieve their goals and objectives. The team has responsibility for budgeting and management reporting for each function, including development of annual operating plans and quarterly forecasts, monthly variance analysis, capital planning, and other ad hoc reporting and analysis. Departments supported include:

  • CFO Corporate Groups: Information Technology, Finance, Global Real Estate and Facilities, Procurement, Information Security and Administrative Services
  • People & Operations
  • General Counsel Groups
  • Strategy and Corporate Development
  • Corporate Communications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of financial budgets, quarterly forecasts, and mid-range plans with primary focus on providing financial analysis and insights
  • Support continual improvement of budget and forecasting processes to enhance data-driven decision-making
  • Assist with the preparation of timely and accurate monthly/quarterly financial results presentations; review actual performance relative to budgets and forecasts and prepare supporting variance analyses with a focus on commercial and operating drivers
  • Partner with accounting team to improve availability and flow of information
  • Maintain reports and datasets in SAP-based planning solutions
  • Deliver ad hoc financial analyses and modeling to support the needs of the business
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the business and proactively engage with partners to support their objectives
  • Demonstrate strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills for executive audiences

Qualifications

Above all, we are looking for an exceptional individual with strong intellectual, critical thinking, decision making, humility, honesty, and analytical and financial skills. Ideally, you will have spent a portion of your career in a financial role supporting corporate or centralized support departments, preferably in the media and entertainment industry.

More specifically, you should meet most the following requirements:

  • At least 4years of FP&A experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience building/enhancing financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning, investment decisions, and business case development
  • Ability to translate complex financial and operational information into clear, concise insights for business leaders and non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities through rigorous analysis and develop actionable recommendations to support decision-making
  • Experience with Enterprise planning systems (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, etc.)
  • Change agent adept at successfully challenging the status quo
  • Critical thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills; can communicate effectively with senior operational and financial management
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., index/match, data tables, etc.)
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with leveraging AI to drive process automation and improvement
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • Media/entertainment industry experience
The anticipated base salary for this position is $79,200-$99,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
