We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer II - EO/IR Processing supporting one of our premier programs within Raytheon, an RTX Business. In this role, you will collaborate on the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of radio frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) signal processing algorithms and models. These technologies support mission-critical products and new business initiatives by extracting and processing sensor data for calibration, noise reduction, object detection, acquisition, tracking, classification, and sensor fusion. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop innovative signal processing solutions that enhance system performance and mission effectiveness. The work is on-site in Aurora, CO.
What You Will Do
- Apply advanced signal processing techniques to support the development, execution, and delivery of complex missile systems programs.
- Develop, modify, and utilize simulations to support the design, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of signal processing algorithms and models.
- Support engineering laboratory activities to test, verify, and validate sensor models and signal processing algorithm performance against system requirements.
- Collaborate with Software, Systems, Hardware, and Test Engineering teams to integrate algorithms into hardware and support development activities from concept through live-fire testing.
- Design, implement, analyze, and optimize EO/IR and RF signal processing algorithms to improve system performance.
- Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer briefings, communicating technical solutions across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Support system integration, verification, validation, and performance assessments throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience developing or applying signal processing techniques within the Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Radio Frequency (RF), sonar, or acoustic domains.
- Experience programming in C or applying object-oriented programming principles using C++, C#, or Java.
- Experience supporting engineering analysis, algorithm development, integration, testing, or performance assessment activities.
- Active and transferable DoD Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to the start date, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or another related STEM discipline.
- Experience supporting missile systems development programs.
- Experience using version control and software configuration management tools such as Azure DevOps and Git.
- Experience designing, implementing, testing, analyzing, and optimizing signal processing algorithms.
- Experience developing or applying EO/IR, RF, sonar, or acoustic signal processing techniques, including edge detection, segmentation, image restoration, adaptive processing, beamforming, angle estimation, synthetic aperture processing, waveform design, tracking, feature extraction, classification, or recognition.
- Experience integrating hardware and software systems.
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Test Engineering.
What We Offer
- Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Safety, Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
