Duties & Responsibilities:

Summary:

VIAVI is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join our growing PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) Division, working directly with commercial and defense customers on product integration and technical solutions. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Solutions Engineering, focused on providing technical sales support for the PNT product portfolio. The successful candidate will play a key role in customer engagements, product demonstrations, technical proposals, and supporting strategic accounts in the Americas region. This position is based in the USA with approximately 25% domestic and regional travel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Pre-Sales Technical Support

  • Provide technical pre-sales support for the PNT product portfolio including GNSS receivers, timing systems, and inertial navigation products

  • Deliver technical expertise to customer engineers for OEM module integration and system-level product deployment

  • Conduct product demonstrations, field tests, and proof-of-concept evaluations for customers

  • Support Sales and Business Development teams with product selection guidance and solution architecture

  • Attend trade shows and host seminars to promote VIAVI PNT solutions

Technical Proposals

  • Contribute to technical responses for RFIs, RFPs, and customer proposals

  • Create application briefs, technical documentation, and solution architectures for customer opportunities

  • Coordinate with Product Line Management and R&D on custom configurations

Customer Engagement

  • Serve as technical point of contact for assigned accounts and customer integration projects

  • Support customer prototype and evaluation programs from scoping through delivery

  • Build technical relationships with customers and integration partners

  • Capture and communicate customer feedback to Product Line Management

Technical Enablement

  • Develop technical content for sales training and customer education

  • Maintain expertise on the PNT product portfolio

  • Support technical review of marketing materials, datasheets, and application notes

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field; or equivalent military technical training and experience

  • Experience in GNSS, PNT, timing, or inertial navigation systems

  • 4+ years of experience in technical sales support, applications engineering, or customer-facing technical roles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex technical concepts

  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently

  • Ability to travel domestically and regionally up to 25%

  • Must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Desired Experience:

  • Technical experience with OEM modules and system-level PNT products

  • Experience with Assured PNT, navigation warfare, or GNSS resilience technologies

  • Familiarity with precision timing, oscillators (OCXO, CSAC, Rubidium), or STL technology

  • Experience supporting defense or aerospace customers

  • Knowledge of RF systems, signal processing, or embedded systems integration

  • Ability to obtain a US DOD Secret security clearance
