Job Title: Value Stream Manager – Metal Fabrication

Based in our state-of-the-art headquarters in Faribault, MN, safety and integrity are our guiding principles, and we work together to achieve excellence for our customers every day.


As the Manufacturing Value Stream Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire metal fabrication value stream, from raw materials to finished subassemblies. Your expertise in lean manufacturing principles, strong leadership abilities, and execution mindset will be crucial in driving operational excellence, maximizing efficiency, and delivering high-quality metal fabricated materials to our assembly value streams. In addition to value stream optimization, this role will have specific responsibilities in safety, quality, delivery, materials availability, cost of goods sold, and people development.

In this role you will get to:


  • Demonstrate Trystar’s guiding principles and values. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and regulations throughout the manufacturing operations.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize workplace accidents, hazards, and near-misses.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement, promoting employee engagement and accountability in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to optimize the value stream, including material flow, and process efficiency through automation to meet customer demands and business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, waste reduction, and cost savings through the application of lean manufacturing methodologies, such as value stream mapping, 5S, and Kaizen.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and eliminate bottlenecks in the value stream.
  • Work closely with the production planning team to develop and execute production schedules that meet customer requirements and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor production schedules, material flow, and resource utilization to ensure on-time delivery and schedule attainment.
  • Proactively identify and address any constraints or obstacles that may impact production schedules, implementing solutions to mitigate risks and minimize delays.
  • Lead Tier Accountability stand-up meetings to continuously monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to set expectations with cross functional support team and to assess and establish accountability for the overall performance of the value stream, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to establish and enforce quality control procedures, ensuring adherence to quality standards throughout the value stream.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Create and educate an environment to complete effective problem solving by conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and prevent their recurrence.
  • Analyze and manage the cost drivers in the value stream to optimize cost of goods sold.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste elimination, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Work with finance and accounting teams to track and analyze cost data, implement cost control measures, and drive continuous cost improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and support staff, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high performance and employee development.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning within the value stream.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and implement professional development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, related field OR a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in manufacturing management, preferably in metal fabrication in electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, equipment, and technologies, with expertise in lean manufacturing principles and value stream optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions and drive process improvements.
  • Proficiency in using manufacturing software systems and tools for scheduling, manufacturing execution, and data analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory standards applicable to electrical equipment manufacturing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
