Job description

M1 Technology is currently seeking a talented Full Stack Developer (Backend) supporting a backend development team focused on middleware and backend services.

As a core member of the development team, you'll help innovate, optimize, and transform the digital landscape with your technical prowess. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of software development and mission support in a fast-paced environment.

Clearance Requirement : TS/SCI with Polygraph

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy production-ready backend services and middleware using Java, adhering to rigorous standards for code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.
  • Manage and optimize search index infrastructure using Solr or Elastic Search, including performing schema updates and tuning Lucene queries for performance and efficiency.
  • Architect and implement big data solutions and ingestion pipelines using tools such as Hadoop, PySpark, Spark, and Hbase.
  • Possess significant experience in query optimization and managing the underlying sharding mechanisms of Solr or Elastic Search to ensure system scalability.
  • Decompose complex functional requirements into discrete development tasks and deliver robust APIs for integration within distributed systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, back-end Java development experience (not Javascript or Springboot) implementing code that undergoes code reviews, unit testing, integration testing and deployed to a production environment
  • College degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree
  • Intermediate to Expert level experience in Solr or Elastic Search (minimum 3 years)
    • Performing schema updates
    • Possessing significant knowledge & experience in submitting Lucene queries
    • Possessing significant knowledge & experience on how Solr/Elastic shards work
    • Possessing significant experience tuning Solr/Elastic for performance and query optimization
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a big data environment using tools such as Hadoop, Pyspark, Spark, and Hbase (prefer at least two of the list)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working with several AWS services.
  • Demonstrated experience with JIRA and GITHUB.
