Job description

Job Description Our client in Mukwonago, WI is adding a Mechanical Designer to their team working under the direction of the Design Engineer to design and develop a broad spectrum of engineering devices to develop or improve the clients product lines. This will include working with metal fabrications, hydraulics, mechanical drive systems, pneumatics, pressurized water systems, and electrical systems. Essential Functions of the Job: Create, develop, and maintain large assembly models, detailed component drawings, and complex assembly drawings in SolidWorks.

Create and maintain bills of materials in SolidWorks and ERP. Create and maintain engineering documentation using standard engineering procedures. Acquire component specification documents and create specification documentations.

Participate in the ECO process and perform any related changes and essential documentation. Collaborate with material and production personnel and vendors to produce designs that minimize labor and overall cost. Provide technical support for production and service to help troubleshoot problems as needed.

Participate in process improvement projects to continually improve business practices. Complete special projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and, Abilities: Demonstrated ability to develop and detail 2D & 3D designs of complex systems.

High organizational skills. Above average mechanical aptitude. Hands-on attitude and ability.

The ability to self-motivate to meet project deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Disposition to work toward continuous design improvement.

Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs. and climb a ladder. Education and Experience: Minimum 2-year degree in mechanical design.

2-5 years of relevant machine design experience. Experience with SolidWorks Advanced Assembly, Sheet Metal, Routings, and Drawings. Experience with SolidWorks Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) is preferred.

Working Conditions: Primary working conditions will be office work with frequent daily activities in the manufacturing shop, and occasional activities working on equipment outdoors in any possible weather conditions. Occasional travel to suppliers and to customer worksites. Travel typically less than 5%.
