The Solar Superintendent plays a pivotal role in construction projects, overseeing the planning and execution of Solar Construction operations. This leadership position requires a deep understanding of geotechnical engineering, drilling techniques, and project management. The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating solar construction activities, ensuring safety standards are met, managing resources, and delivering projects on time and within budget. This role demands strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
This role is located full-time on a jobsite in Peoria, IL. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Job Description:

Position Responsibilities And Duties:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee solar construction operations for projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.

  • Manage and lead solar construction crews, equipment, and subcontractors to meet project goals and deadlines.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret geotechnical data, select appropriate drilling methods, and optimize foundation designs.

  • Develop solar construction schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans, monitoring progress and adjusting, as necessary.

  • Conduct site inspections to assess soil conditions, drilling progress, and quality control.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring all crew members are trained in best practices.

  • Maintain equipment, order necessary supplies, and manage inventory to support drilling operations.

  • Resolve technical issues, troubleshoot equipment problems, and implement solutions to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Prepare reports, documentation, and project updates for stakeholders and management.

  • Responsible for managing a crew of construction workers, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and up to industry standards.

  • Lead and manage foundation drilling projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED plus (4) years of related experience. Qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis and with proven progressive advancement in the related field.

  • Union related experience is a plus.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Relevant experience in foundation drilling and construction project management may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Enforce and promote a culture of safety on-site, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety protocols and regulations.

  • Maintain high construction quality standards and ensure that work meets project specifications and client expectations

  • Identify and resolve issues and challenges that may arise during construction, adapting to changing circumstances.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and soil mechanics.

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and resource management.

  • Knowledge of drilling equipment, tools, and maintenance procedures.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and industry best practices.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a dynamic construction environment.

  • Grouting knowledge and experience

  • Project Construction industry experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

  • Proficiency in basic computer software and project management tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to safety and knowledge of OSHA regulations.

  • Certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety or relevant state licensure may be required depending on location and specific project requirements.

  • Relevant certifications in foundation drilling or construction management are advantageous.
