Job description

Built to Lead: Commercial Solar Superintendent

Austin, TX | Full-Time | Salaried-Exempt

Some roles manage from a distance. This one owns the ground.

Freedom Power was born when Freedom Solar and Freedom HVAC joined forces to become Texas's complete whole-house energy company. On the commercial side, we're building large-scale solar projects that reshape how businesses and communities consume energy. We call it Energy Empowerment โ€” and the Commercial Solar Superintendent is the person who makes it real, one job site at a time.

If you've got solar in your bones, a zero-tolerance mindset for schedule slip, and the leadership chops to manage contractors, electricians, and field teams across multiple active sites โ€” this role was built for you. You'll be the primary bridge between the field and the office: setting standards, enforcing quality, solving problems before they become crises, and coaching your teams to perform at the highest level. You'll travel to sites, get your hands into the details, and own the outcome from beginning to final inspection.

Competitive pay and top-notch benefits! What You'll Do Field Operations & Construction Management
  • Oversee all construction activity across active commercial solar project sites โ€” schedule, quality, and FSP standards are yours to own.
  • Manage approved contractors, Field Operations Managers, Field Engineers, and Electricians to deliver quality, on-schedule installs.
  • Travel to job sites during construction to observe, document, and coach teams on process adherence.
  • Ensure field teams have the equipment and materials they need to execute โ€” no excuses, no delays.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, and contractors to keep projects on track and field issues resolved fast.
Compliance & Inspections
  • Develop and implement inspection protocols in accordance with AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements.
  • Review inspection reports for completeness and accuracy; maintain documentation and records of inspections and repairs.
  • Keep internal and external teams in full compliance with FSP and industry standards.
Training & Process Development
  • Coach, train, interview, and hire installers and other field personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director, Project Managers, and stakeholders to refine SOPs and QA/QC standards.
  • Set performance goals for install teams and drive accountability toward them.
Communication & Reporting
  • Keep project managers and leadership aligned on timelines, schedules, and field progress.
  • Communicate project details clearly to support customer and sales team expectations.
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by management.
What You Bring
  • 1โ€“2+ years of scheduling, project management, or multi-crew supervision experience (required)
  • Prior solar or construction management experience strongly preferred; commercial solar experience highly preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation โ€” you'll be on the road
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Adobe Acrobat, G-Suite, and project management/CRM tools
  • Strong knowledge of solar panel technology, installation processes, and industry standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and electrical plans
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills โ€” you're the bridge between field and office
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and relentless about accurate reporting
  • Problem-solver with a sense of urgency โ€” no obstacle stops task completion
The Physical Side
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights on active commercial job sites
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Ready to work in a variety of weather conditions โ€” Texas heat included
  • Frequent travel to job sites across the region
What's In It For You
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 100% Company-Sponsored Short-Term Disability
  • 401(k) Employer Matching
  • Weekly Pay Dates
  • 3 Weeks PTO + 3 Sick Days
  • 12 Paid Holidays + 1 Floating Holiday
  • Upward mobility opportunities
