Job description

Working under the direct supervision of the Asset Management team, the Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining existing flat rooftop, canopy, and ground-mount solar systems and associated equipment. The Service Technician will work in collaboration with the Asset Management team, Clients, and Vendors to ensure investigations and repairs are completed in a timely and professional manner and to the level of quality expected by Centrica Business Solutions and our clients.

The Service Technician will be primarily responsible for executing repair activities including supporting the coordination, planning, and direction of all investigative and repair-related activities and will liaison with the Asset Management team, Manager of Assets and Services, Clients and other key personnel throughout the duration of each job.

Our Service Technician contributes to the team by:

  • Properly and efficiently inspecting, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing all issues related to previously installed solar panels and all associated equipment in accordance with national codes, local, state and federal laws as well as company procedures.
  • Accurately comprehending plans, specifications, technical documents, contracts and other job-related documentation to be able to properly complete diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair and inspection work completed and assure compliance with applicable codes and industry standards, project specifications and quality assurance throughout the duration of the contract.
  • Communicating with potential, current and previous customers in a professional manner to provide product knowledge, scope of work as well as answer any questions.
  • Maintaining open and effective communication with subordinate supervisory personnel, regarding all activities within each job while ensuring occupational health and safety of all coworkers, subcontractors, clients, guests and assets in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, departmental and company policies, as well as industry standards and practices.
  • Providing daily logs, photos, updates, reports, and any documentation pertaining to the status of the job using mobile phone or tablet.
  • Performing daily job site work completion and reviews ensuring applicable quality control measures in accordance with Centrica Business Solutions policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining and promoting an organized job site and/or working environment.
  • Working in collaboration with the Asset Management team, colleagues, and subcontractors to ensure the company’s overall objectives, goals, operational functions as well as policies and procedures and expectations.
  • Maintaining current and proficient knowledge of uniform building codes and inspection processes.
  • Maintaining current and valid certifications as required by Centrica Business Solutions and deemed necessary by safety, local, state and federal laws.

The core components needed to be successful in this role are (i.e. must haves):

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Solar Industry or 3 years’ experience in the Electrical Field
  • OSHA 30
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment with minimal supervision and direction
  • Ability to work simultaneously and effectively on multiple tasks and projects with varying degrees of complexity
  • Familiarity and ability to utilize company-issued laptop computer for both on-site diagnostic repairs to equipment and accessing web-based monitoring platforms to diagnose or review system operation remotely. Prior work or familiarity with SCADA and machine language a plus
  • Extensive understanding of construction site practices, procedures and safety protocols
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as grammar and spelling proficiency required with the ability to speak, read and write fluent English
  • Ability to maintain a professional and organized working environment, while demonstrating ethical practices and behaviors with sound judgment abilities
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Electrical certification (Journeyman, Install, Low Voltage, etc.)

This position is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 Hours/Week) with occasional evening and weekend overtime. This position will require frequent, mandatory short and long-distance travel throughout California. The ability to travel up to five (5) days per week is a requirement.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $40.00-$50.00/hr + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
