POSITION OVERVIEW
TransGrid Energy is seeking an ambitious and passionate Senior Project Engineer to join our Team and will be responsible for leading and working with EPC Partners, Transmission Providers, IOUs and TGE's off-take customers to ensure successful construction, commissioning, and operating utility-scale battery energy storage systems and solar projects. TGE has partnered with engineering contractors and this position is responsible for engaging and coordinating on all stages of project design, installation, and commissioning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and review technical documentation such as site studies, reports, permits, etc. as related to design, cost or schedule impact.
  • Review technical components of project contracts (EPCA, Procurement Contracts, LTSA, PPA, IA, etc.).
  • Develop specifications, contracts, and a document control structure to support existing projects and the future pipeline.
  • Manage workflows of 3rd party Owner's Engineers.
  • Create, review, and maintain drawing packages, energy production models, bills of materials, scopes of work and other technical project documentation.
  • Manage the technical needs in all stages of project development and design, including conceptual and advanced system design, observing regulatory codes as well as customer requirements, specify balance of systems, perform site visits, coordinate needs for the permitting and technical support during the construction phase.
  • Implement external resources such as structural, civil and electrical engineer consultants, geotechnical and topographic surveyors, other specialized professionals as needed and suppliers.
  • Review conceptual design for ESS and solar projects including selection of major components, equipment layouts, single-line diagrams, etc.
  • Prepare bid packages for contractors including scope of work, schedule, project description, and conceptual design.
  • Lead the technical tasks in preparation of EPC agreement, Exhibits, and the review of potential project acquisition opportunities.
  • Lead and supervise in the field with site visits as needed, testing, commissioning and start-up of constructed power plants.
  • In collaboration with other team members, contribute to the completion of proposals to design and deliver BESS and solar projects.
  • Work with O&M provider and be responsible for technical requirements of battery and solar performance.
  • Work with O&M and optimizer partners to track, monitor, and coordinate with Asset Management Team to enhance performance of battery and solar resources.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with equipment vendors.
  • Maintain continuous improvements in project designs, plans, processes and product development.
  • Lead and supervise as needed, testing, operating and maintenance for asset.
  • Manage the technical obligations according to PPA.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources for subject matter expertise and project risk reduction.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of professional engineering experience in the utility scale battery energy storage system and solar industry.
  • Relevant work experience in the design and development of utility scale solar and battery storage power plants.
  • Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent).
  • Experience with photovoltaic performance modeling tools.
  • Experience with analysis tools for ESS operation.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code, NFPA, and IEEE.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Gantt charts (MS Project or equivalent)
  • Strong in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous experience managing projects from initial design to installation and execution is preferred.
