Job description

Summary:
Provide electrical engineering design of renewable energy projects. Design to include interconnection drawings, electrical permit/construction drawings, calculations and close-out documents. Design tools to include AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope and various manufacturer online design tools. Projects generally include photovoltaic and/or energy storage elements and are submitted to interconnecting utilities and building departments (AHJ) for approval as well to field personnel for installation.
What You'll Do:
  • Model photovoltaic systems in PVSyst or Helioscope software for output production estimates

  • Conduct project site surveys to determine existing field conditions and existing electrical infrastructure

  • Design projects in accordance with building codes, best practices and project requirements

  • Design project installation details, single-line diagrams, schedules and calculations for submission to stakeholders and approval authorities

  • Create shop drawings and details for installation personnel for use in construction

  • Scan building existing conditions via drone or ground-based scanners

  • Create layouts in AutoCad based on existing conditions, building codes and customer requirements

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers and installation contractors to provide information necessary for installation

  • Capture record drawings from field and update shop drawings from field markups and in-person visits

What You'll Need for Success:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical construction related field experience, licensed Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.

  • 5+ years experience in renewable energy electrical construction and design

  • NABCEP, electrical engineering and/or AutoCad certification courses preferred

  • In depth electrical knowledge and ability to calculate and conduct various electrical studies, including voltage drop, ampacity, power factor, arc fault, short circuit, protection coordination, protective relaying and equipment selection.

  • General construction, electrical construction knowledge preferred

  • Experience using AutoCad 2D, AutoCad 3D, Revit Modeling, Bluebeam Software, renewable energy modeling software

  • Intermediate MS Office abilities

  • High focus on quality and detail

  • Strong client service and team orientation

  • Ability to thrive in deadline-driven, pressured environment
