Job description

About Wattch

Wattch enables observability, intelligence, and control for renewable energy systems of all types and sizes. As an emerging leader in monitoring and control technology, we serve customers in the solar, battery storage, and hydroelectric industries, with over 2,000 customer power plants around the world connected to our platform. Our ultimate goal is to provide interoperability for every device in the world that produces or consumes energy.

About the role

As Wattch's Head of Operations, you will manage the systems, processes, and people that deliver our hardware and software solutions to customers around the world. This is a senior leadership role responsible for the full project delivery lifecycle, from vendor strategy and procurement through hardware fulfillment, project execution, and closeout, as well as the operational infrastructure that makes it all run reliably at scale.

You'll build and maintain the operational backbone of the business: defining standards, owning our tooling, leading a team of operations ICs and contractors, and acting as the senior escalation point when systemic issues arise. Working closely with the CEO and cross-functional peers in Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering, you'll translate ambiguous challenges into clear decisions, documented policies, and scalable processes.

This is a rare opportunity to shape how an ambitious, fast-growing cleantech company delivers on its promises, with the authority, visibility, and resources to do it right.

On a given day, you will be...
  • Serving as the senior escalation point for systemic issues across project and hardware delivery, and setting clear decision-making standards for ICs to operate independently
  • Leading strategy on procurement and sourcing: evaluating vendors, shaping commercial terms, and ensuring Wattch maintains strong, resilient supply relationships
  • Owning and evolving our ERP and operational tooling: overseeing implementation, data integrity, and continuous improvement of the systems that power our operations
  • Coaching and developing operations team members, including providing strategic mentorship on inventory planning, hardware strategy, and vendor management
  • Driving the development and enforcement of operational policies and processes: documenting the project lifecycle, exception frameworks, RMA and warranty procedures, and more
  • Defining, tracking, and acting on KPIs that measure the velocity and accuracy of project delivery, and owning our ops issues register as a living tool for continuous improvement
From time to time, you might also be...
  • Ensuring robust and accurate data collection for license creation, invoicing, and project closeout, closing gaps before they compound
  • Collaborating with Sales and Customer Success to adjudicate process exceptions and maintain policy consistency across customer-facing workflows
  • Evaluating and prioritizing investments in tooling, automation, or headcount to improve operational throughput and quality
  • Supporting significant cross-functional initiatives, including finance, compliance, or product delivery milestones that intersect with operations
You're perfect for this role if you...
  • Have 8–10+ years of operations experience, including meaningful time in a physical product business, construction, or a field-services environment
  • Have led teams and managed both direct reports and contractors, with a track record of developing strong individual contributors
  • Are a systems thinker who can design scalable processes from scratch and document them with clarity and precision
  • Make decisions confidently in ambiguous situations and hold the line on policy while remaining pragmatic about edge cases
  • Are equally comfortable in the weeds of operational data and in strategic conversations with executive leadership
  • Communicate with directness and credibility across functions, including Sales, CS, Finance, and Engineering, to drive alignment without formal authority
  • Live in (or are willing to relocate to) Atlanta
Bonus points if you…
  • Have owned or significantly shaped an ERP implementation or migration
  • Have experience in renewable energy, cleantech, or infrastructure technology
  • Have managed hardware supply chains, including vendor negotiation and inventory planning
  • Are familiar with project management methodologies and tools used in field deployment or construction environments
  • Have built internal process documentation, SOPs, or operational runbooks from the ground up
  • Have worked closely with revenue teams to navigate commercial exceptions and establish durable policies
  • Hold a degree in operations management, supply chain, engineering, or a related field
If you join Wattch, you will enjoy…
  • Unlimited PTO, plus 11 paid federal holidays and office closed last week of the year
  • Comprehensive group health insurance
  • Incentive Stock Options (ISO)
  • Office on the Eastside Beltline in Atlanta (in office 3 days per week, work from home Tuesdays and Thursdays)
  • Small, highly collaborative team with direct access to founders and tons of growth opportunities

Wattch is an equal opportunity employer. We believe that the unique contributions of all Wattchers create our success and we aim to offer an inclusive environment in service to one another, our products, and the communities we serve. We value empathy, clarity, and sustainability and strive to make these values present in our daily interactions as well as our hiring process. To ensure that our products and culture continue to incorporate everyone’s perspectives and experience, we don't discriminate based on race, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, or marital, veteran, or disability status. We welcome all applications.
