Travel is required as this position may be located at one of our projects with locations including: Kentucky, Ohio, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington and other states.
Per-diem is available to help cover temporary living expenses for candidates who the eligibility criteria. Depending on project availability, once your time on this project ends, you may be transferred to the next project in a different state.

Responsibilities
  • Works with site superintendent and lead project manager, implements PCL's safety program and maintains safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Direct and perform survey operations to construct GPS base station, layout, and verification for all phases of construction. 
  • Ensure the accuracy of survey data, including measurements, calculations, and GPS-based positioning. 
  • Utilize and oversee advanced survey technologies, including Trimble GPS systems, total stations, and data collectors. 
  • Compute and verify elevations, grades, alignments, and boundary conditions to support construction activities. 
  • Maintain responsibility for survey deliverables including maps, reports, survey data, and documentation. 
  • Effectively communicates with own forces and trades and ensures that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
  • Consistently collaborates with superintendent, construction/project manager and project team. Advises site superintendent or project manager of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.
  • Liaises between field engineers and estimators and to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and assists with resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.
  • Monitors and executes the project construction plan and schedule.
  • Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts, including understanding risk and risk mitigation plans.
  • Maintains project administration correspondence, and complies with documentation requirements.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman certificate or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline prefered
  • Minimum 4+ years of construction experience with a strong focus on survey, layout, or field engineering. 
  • Proven experience leading survey crews or field teams on large-scale construction projects. 
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Trimble GPS systems, total stations, and survey data workflows. 
  • Experience with survey data processing, coordinate systems, and field-to-finish workflows (e.g., machine control integration is a plus). 
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and scheduling practices. 
  • Ability to perform and verify complex mathematical and geodetic calculations. 
  • Knowledge of construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
  • Understanding of project schedules and ability to identify the critical path.
  • Knowledge and understanding of scheduling software. 
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental principles/procedures/legislation.
  • Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with client, consultants, trades, own forces work, and internal employees.
  • Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional judgment.
