POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Moss's Solar Mechanical Estimator will evaluate several design components of various commercial solar farms around the US to prepare, present and submit winning estimating proposals. In this role, the mechanical estimator will engage with both external racking and steel vendors along with internal self-perform teams to create profitable yet competitive utility scale solar mechanical estimates.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The position involves researching, writing, and producing a high volume of client-facing documentation on behalf of our company
  • This role will successfully communicate and collaborate with a variety of internal stakeholders including, the Director of Estimating, Sales, Procurement & Engineering leads and other subject matter experts, as needed - and thus, is a highly visible role
  • The successful candidate is expected to be a self-starter, multitasker who works well under pressure, and follows through on tasks
  • We are looking for a strong team member who leads by example and keeps the team informed of changes
  • Read specifications provided by owner and create a clear scope of work and supporting documents for bidders
  • Maintain relationships with all vendors
  • Follow tight schedules staying organized
  • Compile results from the racking companies
  • Accurately levelized bid tabs, ensuring a fair competitive bidding environment for all vendors
  • Clearly communicates the results of their analysis numerically, verbally, and written, in ways that makes it clear for management to make well informed decisions on racking partners for our projects
  • Stay abreast of new technology and updates to systems within the solar racking market, to maintain our competitive advantage on technologies
  • Review all documents for the project and communicate clearly what's expected with the operations team
  • Monitor for relevant competitive procurement opportunities, managing the bid opportunities pipeline and circulating opportunities to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Maintain, augment, and improve library of reusable components, templates, and processes to reduce response time and improve quality on future bids
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • BS/BA degree, or equivalent in relevant experience.
  • Experience in Solar Utility Scale Projects preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to work across organizations with effective communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, grammar, and spelling ability.
  • Excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-conscious, results-driven environment.
