Position Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Manager position is a hands-on construction role responsible for managing and executing the site-specific Quality Control Program. A key individual in achieving the division's goals and objectives. This position requires excellent communication skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. The QC Manager should know all Solar Project Scopes including Mechanical, Electrical, Substation, and Civil.Â
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Cultivate safety as a core value throughout the company, supporting the corporate safety program and personnel.Â
- Responsible for management and execution of site-specific QC plan with a supporting team of QC technicians as needed.Â
- Apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Standardized Work Instructions, and QC checklists.Â
- Work with QC Manager to review and understand contract requirements related to quality control.Â
- Review site-specific QC program for conformity to company QC program as well as compliance with contract requirements and system design.Â
- Review and comprehending project design, drawings, and specifications.Â
- Assist site management with RFIs and Submittals.Â
- Train technicians on standard industry practices, company installation and testing standards, how to perform QC inspections and how to identify and communicate non-conformance issues.Â
- Manage and execute quality control inspections.Â
- Upload inspections & photos to the QC Program software platform.Â
- Identify, communicate, and track non-conformance material, installation, or QC test results.Â
- Investigate non-conformance issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to eliminate ongoing non-conformance.Â
- Assist construction team as needed with identified non-conformance remediation.Â
- Assist QC Leads with tracking & closing out incomplete inspections and non-conformance issues.Â
- Ensure that all QC records are accurate, uniform, and adequately maintained prior to submission to the customer.Â
- Ensure inspections, testing and documentation are completed and submitted to the customer per contract requirements.Â
- Coordinate customer and AHJ inspections in a timely manner that stays in sync with construction workflow.Â
- Provide support and assistance to other Cinterra divisions as needed.Â
- Handle special assignments and other duties as requested by leadership.Â
Requirements
- 6+ years solar electrical experience.Â
- Proven experience in field quality/operations management or a similar role. Â
- Strong leadership and team management skills. Â
- NFPA 70E Certification preferred.Â
- Experience with electrical testing procedures and digital documentation.Â
- Familiar with AHJ standards and NEC code.Â
- Understands how to read and interpret plans, specifications, and equipment standards. Â
- Familiarity with construction means and methods applicable to utility scale solar and substation installations. Â
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Â
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders. Â
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements in the relevant industry. Â
- Good computer skills including proficiency in industry standard software programs and proficiency in using technology and software systems for quality management. Â
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Â
- Ability to work under pressure and in dynamic field environments. Â
- Willingness to frequently travel and work outside of regular business hours. Â
- Possess a valid US driver's license. Â
- Regular scheduled and unscheduled travel to regional projects, as performance of regional projects dictate. Â
- Remain outside for multiple hours in hot or cold weather at construction sites.Â
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).Â
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.Â
- Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.Â
- Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding.Â
- Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.Â
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.Â
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.Â
- Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.Â
