Job description

Summary:

Electrical Designer 3 is responsible for preparation and development of technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems for ground mount utility-scale solar PV power plants. This role requires an understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, along with the ability to analyze information and present it in a clear, accessible manner to guide electrical installation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evaluate electrical system requirements for utility-scale solar PV power plants
  • Develop electrical layouts with AutoCAD
  • Prepare and revise electrical plans and layouts
  • Calculate material quantities for Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure design compatibility

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum eight (8) years relevant work experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to produce high quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ready and eager to learn new technologies
  • AS in Technology from an ABET accredited university (desired)
  • Experience with design of PV projects (desired)

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds. May be exposed to weather elements when in the field. Limited out of town travel may be required.
