How much do solar film jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 20, 2026, the average yearly pay for solar film in the United States is $132,389.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $77,500.00 and $144,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the hardest job on a film set?

The role of a stunt coordinator is often considered one of the hardest on a film set due to the physical risk, precision, and extensive planning required for dangerous scenes. Additionally, roles like special effects technicians and high-altitude camera operators also face significant physical and technical challenges. These jobs demand specialized skills, certifications, and the ability to work under high pressure and tight schedules.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Solar Film Installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Solar Film Installer, you need a solid understanding of window film application techniques, basic construction or glazing knowledge, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with specialized tools like squeegees, heat guns, and utility knives, as well as manufacturer-specific installation guidelines and safety certifications, is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong customer service skills help installers deliver high-quality results and handle client interactions effectively. These competencies ensure efficient, safe installations that meet client expectations and industry standards.

What are high paying jobs in film?

High paying jobs in film include roles such as film director, producer, cinematographer, and film editor, which often require extensive experience, specialized skills, and sometimes advanced certifications. These positions typically involve leadership, creative decision-making, and technical expertise, and they tend to offer higher salaries compared to entry-level roles like production assistants or set designers.

Are solar installer jobs in demand?

Solar installer jobs are in high demand due to the growth of renewable energy and increasing installation of solar panels. The job requires technical skills, knowledge of electrical systems, and often certification, with employment expected to grow faster than average in the coming years.

What are solar film installers?

Solar film installers are professionals who apply thin layers of photovoltaic or heat-reducing film to windows, primarily in homes, offices, or vehicles. These films help reduce energy costs by blocking UV rays, minimizing heat gain, and sometimes generating electricity through solar energy. Installers measure, cut, and carefully apply the film to ensure a bubble-free, smooth finish. They may also advise clients on the best type of solar film to meet their energy-saving or privacy needs.

What are some common challenges faced by technicians installing solar film, and how can they be addressed?

Technicians installing solar film often encounter challenges such as working with large glass surfaces, ensuring a dust-free environment, and achieving a bubble-free finish. Weather conditions, like excessive heat or wind, can also complicate installation. To address these issues, it's essential to work in a controlled environment when possible, use proper cleaning techniques, and follow best practices for film application. Collaborating closely with team members ensures safety and efficiency, especially during large-scale projects. Ongoing training and attention to detail can further help technicians deliver high-quality results.

Are solar films worth it?

Solar film installation is a job that involves applying thin films to windows to reduce heat and glare, which can improve energy efficiency. The worth of solar films depends on factors like climate, energy savings, and installation costs, making it a valuable skill for those in the energy efficiency or construction industries.

What is the difference between Solar Film vs Solar Installer?

AspectSolar FilmSolar Installer
Primary RoleApplying solar films to windows and surfaces to reduce heat and glareInstalling solar panels on rooftops or ground mounts to generate electricity
Required SkillsSurface preparation, film application techniques, safety proceduresElectrical wiring, mounting systems, safety protocols
CertificationsNone typically required, but safety training beneficialElectrical licenses, NABCEP certification often preferred
Work EnvironmentIndoor and outdoor surface applicationOutdoor installation on buildings or ground

While both roles are part of the solar industry, Solar Film specialists focus on applying films to surfaces to improve energy efficiency and comfort, whereas Solar Installers handle the physical setup of solar panel systems to generate electricity. Both require safety awareness, but Solar Installers often need electrical certifications, making their roles distinct yet complementary in solar energy projects.

Job description

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you've come to the right place!

E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We're intentional, we're unapologetically curious and we're 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.

The E-Space Manufacturing Solar Team builds the world's most advanced aerospace products.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Thin Film Solar Sputter operator/technician to support the manufacturing of flexible thin film photovoltaic modules. This hands-on role focuses on operating, monitoring, and optimizing manufacturing and roll-to-roll (R2R) processing equipment used in the deposition and fabrication of thin-film solar layers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in web handling, process control, and thin-film sputter deposition in a cleanroom or high-tech manufacturing environment.
What you'll be doing:
  • Operate and maintain roll-to-roll vacuum deposition and sputter coating systems used for thin-film production.
  • Monitor process parameters and equipment performance to ensure optimal web tension, alignment, film uniformity, film thickness, and composition.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on web-handling and deposition equipment.
  • Work with the team to optimize and develop new processes.
  • Support process development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with engineering and R&D teams.
  • Handle substrates and materials (e.g., substrates, targets) with care and precision in accordance with SOPs (instructions).
  • Document operational steps, process deviations, and maintenance activities in production logs and reports.
What you will bring to this role:
  • Associate's degree in engineering technology, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with roll-to-roll or web-based processing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of web dynamics including tension control, tracking, splicing, and substrate handling.
  • Familiarity with magnetron sputter deposition techniques for thin films.
  • Expertise in vacuum, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems on production tools.
Extra points for the following:
  • Experience specifically with thin-film photovoltaic materials (CIGS, CdTe, a-Si, OPV, perovskites).
  • Knowledge of process control systems (SCADA, PLC) and data logging tools.
  • Previous work in pilot-scale or high-volume manufacturing of flexible electronics or photovoltaics.
This is a full time, non-exempt position, based out of our Arlington, TX office.

We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used-so we're looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that's your experience - then we'll be immediately wow-ed.

E-Space is not currently able to provide employment sponsorship for candidates who do not hold work authorization for the location of this role.
