Project Manager - Commercial Solar Construction Position Overview

PPM Solar is seeking an organized and motivated Solar Project Manager to oversee commercial and residential solar construction projects from project kickoff through final commissioning.

This role is responsible for coordinating project schedules, budgets, material procurement, subcontractors, permitting, inspections, and client communications while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to PPMโ€™s high quality standards.

This individual will play a critical role in supporting PPM Solarโ€™s continued growth by driving project success, maintaining strong client relationships, fostering collaboration across teams, and upholding the companyโ€™s commitment to craftsmanship, integrity, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial solar projects from pre construction through commissioning.
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, procurement, permitting, inspections, and closeout activities.
  • Solicit and manage subcontractors, vendors, and project partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
  • Track project progress, costs, and change orders.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety standards.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and enforce quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent experience in construction management
  • Safety and quality-focused individual (OSHA 30, experience with safety management)
  • Experience in Solar PV required, 5+ years
  • General understanding of electrical and structural construction plans
  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Strong computer skills including scheduling, CRM, and PM software
  • Honest, reliable, self-aware, and conscientious
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be able to pass a pre employment drug/background test
  • Minimum 4 years of construction project management experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction practices, contracts, and permitting processes.
  • Excellent leadership and problem solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
