Software Engineer in Test II
Calgary, Alberta

About the Role
A Software Engineer in Test II builds reliable systems through scalable test solutions and frameworks. Supporting efforts in all layers, including unit, integration, API, E2E, performance testing and AI assisted test processes, while developing frameworks for both web and mobile automation. You'll work closely with DevOps, and all engineers to embed quality throughout the development lioftfecycle, using Industry best practices and tools.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Software Engineer in Test with 3+ years of expertise in building scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API platforms. They are skilled in functional and performance testing, CI/CD integration, and cloud environments, with strong debugging and problem-solving abilities. Collaborative and quality-driven, they excel at working with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performing software products.

This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain automation frameworks for unit, integration, API, UI, E2E testing.
  • Write clean and scalable test code using tools like Cucumber, Ginkgo, Gomega, Godog BDD Framework
  • Automate testing for web and mobile apps (Playwright/Cypress, Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, etc.).
  • Design and run load, stress, and performance tests (k6, JMeter, Locust).
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD workflows.
  • Debug issues using logs and observability tools.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Integration teams to define testing strategies, ensure features are testable, meet user expectations, and contribute to a high-quality product experience

 Qualifications:

  • 3+ years as a Software Engineer in Test or SDT.
  • Strong proficiency and foundation in test frameworks.
  • Solid experience in web and mobile automation.
  • Familiar with BDD, gRPC, Docker, and CI/CD.
  • Experience in static and dynamic analysis with security code scanning, quality gates and dashboards.
  • Performance/load testing experience.
  • Strong debugging and log analysis skills.
  • Experience working with Principal and Staff Engineers on large-scale projects.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
