OVERVIEW
Hendall Inc., a mission-focused professional services firm based in Rockville, MD, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer Level II to support the operations, maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of a mission-critical federal information system. This role is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and implementing software solutions for existing applications and new capabilities within a complex enterprise technology environment.
DUTIES
  • Analyze, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain enterprise software applications
  • Develop new application functionality and modify existing applications to address enhancements, defects, and changing requirements
  • Develop and maintain Java-based applications, APIs, integrations, scripts, and automated processes
  • Troubleshoot application defects and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective solutions
  • Support software upgrades, patches, technology refreshes, and application modernization activities
  • Develop and maintain integrations between applications, databases, APIs, workflows, and external systems
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Maintain application code and technical artifacts using source control and configuration management practices
  • Support software builds, deployment packages, and releases across development, test, pre-production, and production environments
  • Perform unit, functional, regression, integration, performance, load, and user acceptance testing
  • Develop and maintain system design, test, release, deployment, and other required technical documentation
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex application and production issues

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise software applications
  • Experience with Java-based application development
  • Experience developing APIs, integrations, and application interfaces
  • Experience troubleshooting production applications and performing root cause analysis
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with source control, configuration management, software builds, and release processes
  • Experience with software testing, including unit, integration, and regression testing
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to satisfy federal background investigation and badging requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Java 21, Jakarta EE, Spring Boot, Hibernate, or comparable enterprise Java technologies
  • Experience with Oracle WebLogic and Oracle databases
  • Experience developing REST APIs and web-based applications
  • Experience with Angular or comparable front-end technologies
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud environments
  • Experience with GitLab, JIRA, ServiceNow, or comparable development tools
  • Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical applications
  • Experience supporting federal government information systems

Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 per year
