Job description

Job Summary:
Cisco is a leader in AI-driven platforms and data infrastructure, seeking a Software Engineer Backend/Platform Systems I to contribute to innovative projects. This role involves developing scalable backend systems, designing analytics platforms, and supporting cloud computing initiatives to enhance operational excellence and growth.
Responsibilities:
• Develop scalable backend systems and analytics platforms.
• Build infrastructure to support cloud and distributed computing initiatives.
• Solve complex challenges with innovation and precision.
• Build and maintain key software tools and backend infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Completion within the past 3 years, or current enrollment with expected completion within 12 months, of a relevant degree or certification program (e.g., Associate's, Apprenticeship, Boot Camp, specialized certification + 1 year relevant experience, High School Diploma + 2 years relevant experience), or Bachelor's degree + 0 years experience.
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language: C/C++, Java, or Go.
• Experience designing and developing microservices and APIs.
• Strong understanding of Linux and fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Preferred:
• Conceptual understanding of AI/ML.
• Experience with automation and software testing (e.g., pyTest).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as BGP and VLANs.
