SUMMARY: WR Government Business Solutions has a potential opportunity for a Software Engineer I to support the research, design, development, integration, and testing of computer software systems in conjunction with hardware product development. This position provides the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers while developing software solutions for advanced government and defense applications.
 
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Work under the direct technical supervision of experienced engineers on daily and weekly assignments.
  • Assist in analyzing, defining, and documenting software requirements, workflows, logical processes, hardware and operating system environments, system interfaces, controls, and outputs.
  • Support software development plans, schedules, and project milestones under the guidance of senior engineers and the Project Manager.
  • Participate in customer and project meetings to gather software requirements, objectives, features, and interface needs.
  • Assist in developing software testing procedures, programming, and technical documentation.
  • Support the evaluation of software and hardware solutions for system development and integration.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers and other technical staff to evaluate hardware/software interfaces and overall system performance requirements.
  • Assist in prototyping, testing, debugging, and refining software solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Write and maintain technical specifications and software documentation.
  • Design and develop screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, reports, and system interfaces under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Convert software designs and specifications into functional code.
  • Compile, test, debug, and maintain software applications while resolving compilation and runtime issues.
  • Develop and execute test cases to verify software functionality and ensure requirements are met.
  • Analyze software defects, implement corrective actions, and document changes.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation describing software development, testing, implementation, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support by responding to software-related issues and assisting users with troubleshooting.
  • Support software installation, integration, and testing at customer sites as required.
 
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Zero (0)+ years of experience using one or more object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, or similar languages through coursework, internships, or professional experience.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, engineering drawings, scientific equations, and software specifications.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Position Salary Range: $74,000 - $107,000. The listed salary range represents the typical range for this position. WR bases the offered salary on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, knowledge, and skills, scope and responsibilities of the position, and market and business considerations.
