Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Software Test Engineer to support the verification, validation, integration, and testing of advanced aerospace software and systems. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure software products meet performance, functional, and quality requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex programs involving embedded systems, autonomy, aerospace, defense, robotics, and next-generation technologies. The position is hybrid, with a combination of onsite work in Frisco, Texas and remote flexibility based on program needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, execute, and document software and system-level test procedures.
  • Perform Verification and Validation (V&V) activities to ensure compliance with system and software requirements.
  • Conduct functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing across software and hardware environments.
  • Analyze technical requirements, interface specifications, software documentation, and system architectures to develop effective test strategies.
  • Identify, document, track, and support resolution of software defects and discrepancies.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of software and system issues.
  • Generate test reports, execution summaries, defect reports, and validation documentation.
  • Support system integration, qualification, and acceptance testing activities.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, systems engineers, manufacturing teams, integration personnel, and program management.
  • Participate in test readiness reviews, technical reviews, and customer demonstrations as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes, methodologies, and automation initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3โ€“10 years of relevant professional experience in aerospace software and systems testing.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense standards, including:
    • DO-178C
    • DO-254
    • MIL-HDBK-516C
    • MIL-STD frameworksย 
  • Experience executing software and/or system-level testing in aerospace, defense, robotics, autonomy, embedded systems, or similar technical environments.
  • Working knowledge of software testing methodologies, including:
    • Verification & Validation (V&V)
    • Regression Testing
    • Functional Testing
    • Integration Testing
    • Test Case Development
    • Test Procedure Development
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze:
    • Technical requirements
    • Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
    • Software and system documentation
    • Test procedures
    • System architectures
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause investigation skills.
  • Experience documenting test execution results, discrepancies, and defect reports.
  • Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting unmanned systems, autonomous platforms, aerospace, or defense programs.
  • Experience working in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL/HITL) and/or Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) test environments.
  • Experience supporting flight test, field testing, or system integration activities.
    • Experience testing embedded, real-time, or distributed systems.
    • Experience supporting first-of-type system integration, deployment, and fielding efforts.
    • Exposure to automated testing frameworks and test scripting tools is a plus.
