Job description


As a Lead Software Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will provide technical guidance to project teams that design, develop, and implement software solutions. You will drive the adoption of coding standards, identify and address risks, and provide mitigation solutions to ensure timely and successful delivery of software projects aligned with business objectives. You will report directly to our Director Engineering, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will impact the development and delivery of cutting-edge software solutions that support aerospace innovations, contributing to projects that advance technology and operational excellence in the aerospace domain.
You will be supporting the Thunderbolt Platform a foundational aerospace software and hardware platform used across multiple Honeywell avionics products. It is managed by the Thunderbolt Platform & Customer Tools / Platform COE (Center of Excellence) and is intended to improve software reuse, quality, scalability, and certification compliance across aerospace programs
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship on critical technology projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions in accordance with project specifications.
  • Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices.
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of software projects within scope and budget.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • 6+ years of experience leading software development projects.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles.
  • Ability to manage project risks and deliver high-quality software solutions on schedule.
