Project Description:
DRT provides GIS solutions to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems within the public health domains of environmental health, infectious disease, chronic disease, and emergency preparedness/response. Our support includes the design, development, and enhancements of internal and external applications, websites, and database solutions with geospatial components. Our team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques in the field to enhance emergency response efforts all around the world.
Job Summary:
The GIS Project Coordinator will lead a team of GIS Developers and Technologists to drive team direction, manage issues with leadership, and interface directly with public health scientists, web developers, and UX/UI designers. The Project Coordinator provides project management functions to public health, data, and geospatial technology projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Leads all project management domains over the entire lifecycle of, public health, geospatial technology projects from planning to close-out
  • Coordinates and tracks performance of cross-functional teams comprised of researchers, programmers, designers, testers, and communication specialists
  • Develops partner-specific project plans to develop or enhance interactive mapping websites, data visualizations, and widgets
  • Manages relationships within cross-functional project teams and external partners
  • Coordinates and oversees the definition of project scope and objectives based on user needs, capacity, and a thorough understanding of business need and industry requirements
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define product requirements, milestones, deliverables, timelines, and execution strategy
  • Provides testing, debugging and resolution for application issues
  • Analyzes business and user needs, documents requirements, and translates them into proper system requirement specifications
  • Writes and maintain project documentation such as meeting notes, project charters, change requests, project enhancements, and clearance documents
  • Creates and maintains project schedule and progress reports
  • Leads weekly and bi-weekly project meetings and present project milestones to stakeholders
Required Experience:
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
  • Experience with the full ESRI GIS stack, including ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, and Desktop
  • At least five years of experience supporting public health projects
  • At least ten years’ leading IT development or analytical projects or with collaborating with technical teams
  • Knowledge of Agile processes, Azure DevOps, JIRA or other project management platforms commonly used in software development
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be well-organized, proactive, and works well in a team-setting
  • Skilled in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and collaborators
  • Skilled in translating public health information, data, and concepts to functional technical requirements
Preferred Experience:
  • Recent experience with CDC environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes
  • Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps
Education & Training:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, public health, GIS, or related field; Master's of Public Health preferred
Work Authorization, Clearance Requirement, & Additional Information:
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance. Due to contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) to be eligible.

Salary Range:
  • $40/hour - $55/hour
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
