Develops application software. Writing and implementing efficient code. Researches, designs, develops and implements software applications and systems. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Evaluates, designs and implements interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, cloud offering, system architecture, security and characteristics of overall system. Researching, designing, implementing and managing software programs. Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications. Determining operational practicality. Documents testing, client experience and maintenance of system corrections. May partner and collaborate with cyber security teams to ensure compliance with security standards. May develop and conduct unit tests.

The Advanced Concepts & Technology Group develops technologies and prototypes to enhance the performance of maritime and airborne sensing to provide new capabilities to the U.S. Government. The Group executes both large-scale system prototypes as well as earlier stage technology development and demonstration programs with partner groups across the laboratory. The group is predominantly composed of scientists and engineers with expertise in radar, RF sensors, multispectral imaging, electronics and software/firmware.

The group is looking for a software developer with a strong C++ object-oriented programming background who will join a team of software developers, system engineers, and algorithm developers who are rapidly prototyping advanced sensor control and signal processing systems. Software will be developed within a modern, object-oriented, modular open-systems architecture primarily utilizing C++, Linux, and publish-subscribe middleware. Challenging development activities will directly contribute to the prototyping of advanced Electro-Optical/Infrared control systems and may involve field testing of said systems.
