Job description

Position Summary

The Intern assists in the preparation of individual and business tax returns by learning and practicing basic tax preparation skills; computing, recording, and proofreading data; and compiling, sorting, and filing documents. This position is responsible for learning firm workflow procedures and all firm software. The Intern assists staff accountants and managers as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Learns and demonstrates the firm’s core values.
  • Obtains knowledge of basic accounting and/or tax principles and procedures.
  • Learns and applies the firm method for work paper documentation.
  • Develops logical and orderly documentation of work performed and alerts the team promptly of progress and difficulties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Enrollment in an accounting program at an accredited college/university
  • Junior or senior working toward a degree in accounting preferred
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Completed intermediate accounting and basic tax courses preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
